NT Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.

Oral Health Services operates in urban community dental clinics in the Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Alice Springs, and provides outreach services to schools-based clinics and remote health centres. Dental / Oral Health Therapist are based at community dental clinics and are supported by a chairside dental assistant.

As a Dental/Oral Health Therapist (P2), your primary objective is to provide high-quality, culturally responsive and effective oral health treatment, oral health promotion and specialist referrals to eligible clients within a scope of practice. This includes ensuring clinical and corporate records are maintained, appointment schedules are managed and participation in the development and implementation of oral health promotional programs. In addition, you will provide clinical/professional supervision and support to students and junior staff and contribute to a positive workplace culture through your exemplary leadership practices.

To be successful, you are required to have a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Dental Therapist or Oral Heath Therapist, the ability to gain a radiographers permit in the NT and demonstrated knowledge of evidence based clinical practices and techniques. Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion and primary health care principles and an awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture is essential.
