Play a vital role in educating and engaging with the community to support positive compliance across our beautiful municipal area

Permanent Full-time position ($79,071 per annum starting wage plus 15% employer superannuation and on-call allowance)

Commuter use of a Council vehicle while undertaking on-call duties.

The Role

As the Municipal Inspector you will:

Promote compliance through education and community engagement as the primary approach

Provide timely, courteous advice to community members on legislative and by-law requirements

Manage animal control duties including dog registrations, permits, and pound keeping responsibilities

Conduct patrols and inspections across the municipal area with a focus on education before enforcement

Investigate and resolve compliance matters fairly and equitably, using enforcement only when necessary

Participate in educational campaigns to increase community awareness of compliance requirements

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will have:

Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds

Excellent time management skills with ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Strong written communication skills and ability to interpret and apply legislation and by-laws

Confidence and, ideally, experience dealing with animals, particularly livestock and dogs

Proficiency in computerised systems, including Microsoft 365, records management and GIS systems
