The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) will be responsible for driving operational performance, ensuring the successful delivery of complex, large-scale telecommunications projects, and building the operational foundations to support continued growth in Australia and globally.
This role requires a commercially astute and strategically minded leader who thrives in complex, technical environments and has a proven track record in scaling operations while maintaining excellence in safety, quality, and customer delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Translate corporate strategy into executable operational plans. Drive growth through innovation, market responsiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all national operations including engineering, project management, service delivery, logistics, and customer support. Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • P&L Accountability: Manage budgets, financial performance, and operational KPIs across business units. Identify cost efficiencies and revenue opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire high-performing, cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and delivery. Build a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Client & Partner Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with major clients, technology partners, and stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
  • Governance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, safety standards, and corporate governance. Proactively manage operational risks associated with mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Champion the adoption of new technologies, digital tools, and lean processes to improve delivery, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Global Collaboration: Work with international leadership teams to align operational standards and support global project delivery initiatives.

Experience required:

  • Industry: Have worked in senior executive roles previously within the Telecommunications industry.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Telecommunications, Business Administration, or a related field is essential. An MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is highly desirable.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 10+ years' senior operational leadership experience within telecommunications, technology, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Track Record: Proven success managing complex, large-scale, mission-critical projects and delivering operational transformation in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong people leader with experience building, mentoring, and retaining high-performing technical and operational teams.
  • Strategic & Commercial Acumen: Skilled at balancing strategic growth objectives with pragmatic, hands-on delivery. Deep financial and commercial acumen with demonstrated P&L responsibility.
  • Stakeholder Management: Confident engaging with Boards, executives, clients, regulators, and industry partners.
