Hunters Hill Dermatology (hhderm.com.au) is a recently established (2020) purpose-built specialist medical practice located at Hunters Hill, on the lower north shore of Sydney. We envision respectfully treating patients with skin disease from all walks of life in our community with the latest, most effective and practical medical, surgical and physical treatment options to improve their quality of life.

Our principal dermatologist, Dr Tai Phan (drtaiphan.com.au) offers patients expert diagnosis and management of all medical and surgical conditions affecting the skin, hair and nails. He also performs Mohs micrographic surgery, a specialised form of surgery primarily used to treat skin cancer affecting cosmetically sensitive locations on the face. We also use laser to treat photodamage, pigmentation, redness and scars.

We have a new opportunity for a Registered Nurse to support our four dermatologists at the practice and become a long-term member of our small close knit team. We are looking for loyal, conscientious patient-focussed individuals with exceptional attention to detail and organisation, and the ability to learn and cope with a face paced environment to join us.

About the Role

This is for a full-time or two or more part-time/casual registered nurse or endorsed enrolled nurse position to start in October 2025 for rostering on Monday to Friday only: 7.30am-5pm (rotating 4 week roster of between 2-5 days per week). Shifts can range from 5 hours to 10 hours per day to cover clinic hours. This role will encompass predominantly medical and surgical dermatology as well as laser dermatology nursing. Previous dermatology experience is not essential, although experience/qualifications with dermal therapy and laser and light devices (especially Sciton Broadband Light/Moxi) would be preferable. Flexibility to be able to cover leave for our other nurses is also preferable.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assisting Dermatologists with all aspects of Outpatient Surgery: setup and assistance with biopsies and surgical excision procedures

Assisting Dermatologists with all aspects of Laser surgery: setup and assistance with Sciton ablative and non-ablative treatments

Carry out Broadband Light (BBL) treatments, Moxi treatments and SkinPen treatments

Wound care and scar management including removal of sutures, and providing pre and post procedure patient education of surgical wounds

Assistance in providing informed surgical and financial consent to patients for Mohs surgery

Cleaning, packaging, sterilisation and maintenance of medical equipment

Daily cleaning and preparation of clinical areas

Attending to NB-UVB phototherapy for patients

Clinical photography and uploading to clinical record with precise anatomical labels into Genie software

Knowledge and application of PASI/EASI scoring systems for treatment of patients on biological drugs for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis

Management, stocktake and ordering of medical supplies

Metvix application and administer PDT (photodynamic therapy) treatments

Patch Testing

Knowledge and maintenance of Cold Chain procedure

Liaising with sales representatives to procure product samples

Assist other team members such as secretarial staff whenever required

To be successful for this position you will have the following experience/attributes

Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse or Endorsed Enrolled Nurse working in a fast-paced medical setting (past surgical practice experience would be preferred but not essential because on-site training will be provided)

Candidates must have exactly 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced medical setting

Must have current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Endorsed Enrolled Nurse

Exceptional patient rapport, genuine compassion, understanding and kindness

Exceptional interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with patients and colleagues

Able to manage multiple tasks and have high attention to detail

Ability to tackle any task with strong follow through

Proactive, self-motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn

Ability to work autonomously in addition to a busy team environment and have a personality that is ambitious for continuous development

Great organisational skills, reliability and punctuality

Computer literate - essential. Experience with Genie software would be beneficial as we are a paperless practice

Ability to touch-type accurately and efficiently desirable

Laser Safety Officer Certificate desirable

Previous dermatology experience desirable

A great "can do" attitude and sense of humour

Current Working with Children's Check and Police Check

Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident

Wages dependent on level of experience, qualifications and contribution to the practice.
