Balliang Consulting is a boutique communications consultancy specialising in public relations, crisis management and corporate communications.

Our work ranges from high-pressure media issues to long-term campaigns, combining serious strategy with creative execution.

Our clients include corporates, small businesses, industry organisations, governments and not-for-profits. We specialise in the agriculture industry but have clients in other industries including health, education, FMCGs and food production.

We are looking for a Communications Consultant to join our growing team. This is a creative role, with a strong focus on design and content creation, alongside writing and public relations.

The role:

This is a position designed for a motivated person with a passion for communications and design. As part of a small consultancy, you’ll contribute across a wide range of projects. Day-to-day, your work will include:

Social media content: developing posts in line with broader communication and marketing strategies.

Graphic design: creating assets in Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva for reports, presentations, campaigns and client branding.

Drafting and editing written communications including media releases, EDMs, reports and key messages.

Supporting the delivery of PR campaigns, issues management and stakeholder engagement.

Assisting with research, media monitoring and project coordination.

Some tasks will be creative and design-driven. Others will be supporting clients in sensitive or high-pressure situations. Both require attention to detail and sound judgment.

What you’ll bring:

We’re looking for someone with a blend of creative, written and presentation skills who is eager to learn and grow. We’re looking for someone who:

Has a degree (or near completion) in communications, design, PR, media, marketing or a related field.

Is confident in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva.

Writes well, with an eye for detail and clarity.

Can manage competing priorities and deadlines in a professional environment.

Is collaborative, organised, inquisitive and willing to learn.

Portfolio requirement:

Applicants must include a design portfolio with their application. This should demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva, and show examples of your ability to create clear, professional and creative design work.
