Digital Canberra is seeking applications to fulfil Assistant Director, Governance Risk and Compliance role with the Major Programs Branch.
The Assistant Director will play a pivotal role in supporting program delivery, program assurance, and governance framework. This position involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams on various projects, ensuring the effective utilisation of processes and tools to achieve project and overall program objectives. The successful candidate will also support internal and external assurance processes, providing regular updates to key committees and stakeholders.
What You Will Do:
- Support the delivery of the program, under the direction of project/program managers, in accordance with the Digital Canberra delivery frameworks, processes and tools to ensure deliverables are completed within the agreed baseline and that the expected stakeholder outcomes are achieved.
- Facilitate, manage and govern the internal and external assurance processes including drafting responses to various audits recommendations, stage gate reviews and health check reports and other assurance reports. Provide regular updates to audit, risk, and governance committees.
- Support multidisciplinary teams to ensure project deliverables align with governance standards and objectives.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and engagement. Ensure stakeholders are informed about the program developments and governance activities.
- Assist with the identification, assessing, and managing risks and issues related to program delivery. Report program risks and issues effectively to ensure timely resolution.
- Develop and maintain essential artefacts, frameworks and governance processes including but not limited to: Integrated Master Schedule, Program Registers, Program Deliverables, Deliverables Review and Acceptance framework, Progress Reports and Risk, Actions, Assumptions, Issues, Decision and Dependency (RAIDD) logs.
- Perform a diverse range of work across the program and branch as required.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of governance, risk, and compliance principles in an ICT or digital environment.
- Proven experience in drafting responses to internal and external assurance reports.
- Strong experience in developing and managing various governance artefacts.
- Tertiary level qualifications and/or certification (or working towards) in Project Management are desirable. These include one or more of: Diploma of Project Management, PRINCE2 Foundations, PRINCE2 Agile Foundations.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or certification in project management, governance, or Managing Successful Programmes is highly desirable.
Behavioural Capabilities
- Proven ability to deliver governance and compliance activities effectively, supporting projects and programs to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and communications skills, including the ability to write for a range of government audiences, present information concisely and deliver high quality documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse, assess information and solve problems effectively.
- Flexibility in navigating changing circumstances and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong dedication to delivering high-quality service and outcomes for the directorate and the program.
The following is a mandatory requirement for the position:
- An ACT Government CMTEDD issued Personnel Vetting Program certificate is required for this position and will form part of the pre-employment process prior to commencement.
The following are not requirements for the position:
- This position does not require a pre-employment medical.
- This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to a further 12 months and/or permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
This position will be based at an activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
Flexible Working/Hybrid Options: Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home and designated office based.
