The Role
The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and transformative endeavour for Australia. The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia’s economic and national security landscape for decades to come.
The SSN-AUKUS Support Branch within SSN-AUKUS Division ensures the Nuclear Powered Submarine program addresses Australian sovereign requirements and is ready to support SSN-AUKUS throughout the capability lifecycle.
As an Executive Level 1, Systems Engineer, you will be involved in evaluating and analysing a variety of Integrated Product Support considerations such as Sustaining Engineering, Maintenance Planning & Management, Design Interface and Technical Data, within the Australian context. This will also require supporting the definition and development of the support system for the SSN-AUKUS conventionally armed, nuclear powered submarine.
To achieve this, we seek a Systems Engineer for the following activities:
- Design Interface
- Sustaining Engineering
- Maintenance Planning and Management
- Technical Data
- Configuration Management
- Test & Evaluation
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in ASA as a Building Capability Payment (BCP). This enables ASA to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the ASA Enterprise Agreement, for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to ASA capability. The SSN-AUKUS Division is responsible for the safe delivery of the Build Program and the operation of the sovereign SSN-AUKUS nuclear powered submarine capability. - Apply engineering knowledge and experience to identify issues and uncertainties and consider these in planning, decision-making and priority setting.
- Demonstrate systems engineering knowledge and provide advice and recommendations on the development of the SSN-AUKUS support system to established engineering principles, techniques, methods and regulations.
- Assess technical and design packages including scoping, planning, reviewing, provide recommendations and contribute to the implementation of actions.
- Manage workflows, resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
