About the Role
The IT Systems Engineer (Cyber Security) will play a dual role managing client infrastructure while strengthening their security posture. This is a hands-on technical position working with cloud platforms, identity solutions, and modern workplace technologies, alongside implementing and advising on security controls.
The role is fully remote, with consideration given to candidates based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane. You’ll join a collaborative engineering team working across Microsoft, AWS, and modern security toolsets, supporting high-impact projects across regulated industries.
Key Responsibilities
Client IT & Cloud Operations
Deploy, manage, and optimise cloud environments [Azure, AWS]
Administer Microsoft 365, Intune, and identity solutions [Entra ID, Okta, Ping]
Manage networking, device lifecycle, patching, and backup systems
Provide incident troubleshooting and SLA-aligned service delivery
Cybersecurity Operations
Implement security policies, endpoint protection, and zero trust architectures
Maintain and monitor SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management tools
Support compliance initiatives aligned to ISO 27001, Essential 8, and NIST
Respond to incidents and assist with remediation projects
Project Delivery & Client Engagement
Deliver security uplift projects, migrations, and cloud transformations
Provide technical input during audits and compliance-driven initiatives
Collaborate with consultants on risk assessments and remediation plans
Produce reports, project updates, and technical documentation for clients
Ideal Candidate
3–5 years of IT systems and cybersecurity engineering experience [preferably within a customer-facing role]
Strong expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Intune, and Defender
Experience with endpoint protection [Sophos, CrowdStrike, Defender for Endpoint]
Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR [Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar] and vulnerability management [Tenable, Rapid7, Qualys]
Background in networking [Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto] and backup solutions is desirable [Veeam, Datto]
Exposure to cloud security platforms [Prisma Cloud, Zscaler, Netskope] is highly regarded
