About the Role
The Positive Behaviour Guidance Coach (PBGC) is a dynamic and impactful role that combines training & development with specialist behavioural guidance.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs that lift capability in Quality, Safety, Safeguarding, and Behavioural Guidance.
- Bring the Child Safe Standards to life - ensuring children’s voices are heard, families are engaged, diversity is celebrated, and staff are equipped and supported.
- Coach and mentor staff, building confidence and competence across the QLD Home-based education and care sectors.
- Work alongside families, communities, educators and service providers to strengthen compliance and promote wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
- Training Needs Analysis - Identify workforce gaps in Quality, Safety, and Behavioural Guidance.
- Training & Development - Design and deliver evidence-based behaviour support to educators, focusing on positive strategies for complex behaviours and guiding providers to align policies and quality improvement plans with best practice.
- Child Safeguarding - Champion Child Safe Standards, embedding them into every layer of practice and service delivery.
- Continuous Improvement - Evaluate outcomes, close training gaps, and foster a culture of evidence-based practice and accountability.
About you
You’re not only experienced - you are passionate about making a difference. You bring a unique blend of clinical expertise, coaching ability, and a deep commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
This role will see you lead a structured, state-wide initiative across Queensland, delivered in four phases:
- Data Analysis & Gap Identification – Reviewing service data to identify areas of need.
- Training Development – Designing targeted training programs to address identified gaps.
- Training Delivery – Delivering training across Home-based Education and Care services regionally, state-wide.
- Review & Impact Measurement – Evaluating success and demonstrating outcomes in minimising identified gaps.
Essential skills and experience:
- A degree in Psychology, Education, Behavioural Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in training, behavioural support, or practice mentoring.
- Willingness to travel State-wide.
- Strong understanding of quality, safety, and compliance frameworks.
- Skilled facilitator, coach, and communicator with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Previous experience in the not-for-profit, community, education, or health sectors.
- Experience managing complex behavioural caseloads.
- Knowledge of WHS legislation and restrictive practices compliance.
- Recognised for enthusiasm, initiative, and the ability to inspire others.
