About the Role

As Senior Data Engineer, you’ll design and operate the core data environment that ingests, organises and serves high-volume customer and market data.
This is a hands-on position blending data engineering and data infrastructure, focusing on R, Python and SQL and working across on-premises and cloud environments.

What You’ll Do

Design and build scalable, high-performance data pipelines to ingest and process large, complex datasets from multiple internal and external sources.

Model and manage data flows and schemas to ensure quality, consistency and reliability.

Implement best practices in data governance, access control, monitoring and observability.

Work with product and analytics teams to align data architecture with business goals.

Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments using modern DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code tools.

Provide production support, including continuous improvement of system performance, availability and disaster recovery.

What You Bring

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent experience.

Proficiency in R, Python and SQL with strong data modelling and query optimisation skills.

Solid understanding of distributed systems, modern data storage (e.g. S3, columnar stores) and streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka).

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and Linux.

Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in small, fast-moving teams as well as larger enterprise environments.

Nice to Have

Experience working end-to-end in small, agile environments, taking full ownership of design and delivery.

Exposure to modern data formats (Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg) and data lakehouse architectures.

Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
