Who is STAR Community Services?
STAR Community Services is an award-winning not-for-profit supporting elderly and people with disabilities since 1996. We provide affordable, reliable aged care and disability services—including Support at Home, NDIS, transport, social activities, and companionship—to help clients live independently and stay connected. With help from dedicated staff and local volunteers, we serve Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast, and Toowoomba. STAR is committed to building inclusive communities and combating social isolation through regular programs and events.
About the Role
As our Community Engagement Officer, you’ll be the bridge between STAR and the wider community. You'll engage with clients, carers, community groups, service providers, and stakeholders to promote our services, grow our presence, and generate new client opportunities.
This role is ideal for a proactive communicator who thrives on connecting with people and has a deep understanding (or willingness to learn) of the aged care and NDIS sectors.
Key responsibilities (not limited to)
Develop and deliver community engagement strategies to raise awareness of STAR’s services.
Represent STAR at community events, expos, and workshops.
Build and maintain relationships with community groups, stakeholders, and referral partners.
Work closely with the marketing and service teams to align messaging and capacity.
Identify new opportunities and generate leads to support service growth.
Stay up to date with sector developments and contribute to STAR’s continuous improvement.

What will you bring to the role?
Essential:
· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
· Experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations or similar roles.
· Strong organisational and administrative skills.
· Knowledge (or willingness to learn) of aged care and/or NDIS service systems.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
· A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally.
Desirable:
· Experience in the not-for-profit, aged care or disability sectors.
· Qualifications in Community Services, Communications, or a related field.
· Background in business development or lead generation.
