The Police Association of Tasmania (PAT) represents the professional and industrial interests of police officers in Tasmania. The Director provides specialised advice to the PAT Executive Committee and its membership on a range of issues including industrial relations, regulatory matters, legislation, WHS, formulation of strategic direction and delivery of outcomes.
The Director has responsibility for the efficient management of the PAT office and delivery of the following services in conjunction with the Deputy Director and administrative staff:
o Entitlements arising from the Police Award
o Workers compensation
o Work health & safety
o Disciplinary matters
o Sick leave and ill health options
o Workplace conflicts/disputes
o Grievances and reviews
o Equal employment opportunity
o Termination/separation matters
o Anti-discrimination matters
o PAT policies and member benefits
The position is a full-time contract position for two years with the potential for permanency after that time. The position is based in Hobart and the salary range is $130,000-$155,000 plus other entitlements. The position enjoys the flexibility with working hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant, free on site parking at New Town, a motor vehicle is supplied with the position and it attracts TOIL hours.

Candidates to apply in writing with a covering letter (maximum three pages), resume and also capability statement addressing key selection criteria (maximum five pages) by 5pm on 17 October 2025. Applicants with a legal or policing background are highly encouraged to apply. Be prepared to undertake in-person panel interviews with the selection committee in the last weeks of October 2025.
The successful applicant will be required to submit a National Police Check and sign a confidentiality agreement.
Anticipate commencement of duties in December 2025 to January 2026.
