Your new role
We have an opportunity for an individual to join our Investigations unit as Principal Investigator on a full-time, ongoing basis. Reporting to the Manager - Investigations and working in close collaboration, the role will contribute to the leadership of a multi-disciplinary investigations team.
The Principal Investigator conducts and leads numerous investigations, coordinating resources, providing expert advice and ensuring investigations comply with a range of legislative requirements, processes and industry standards
Duties include:
- Support and assist the Manager - Investigations to manage, plan and delivery a multi-disciplinary team's program of work and work efforts; support constructive working relationships within the organisation and act as a role model by modelling ethical behaviours and values.
- Mentor members of a multi-disciplinary team by providing timely and constructive feedback, enabling the completion of investigations
- Lead, conduct and coordinate resources for complex investigations ensuring compliance with a range of legislative requirements, processes and industry standards.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures within the Investigations Unit.
- Review investigation plans and monitor investigations ensuring adequate resources are available.

Our requirements / Your skill set
We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:
- Formal qualifications and/or training in investigations, law enforcement or a related discipline are required.
- Extensive experience in the conduct of sensitive and complex investigations.
Due to the requirement to attain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
Pre-employment testing
This position is classified as a Senior IBAC Officer under the IBAC Act. Senior IBAC Officers must be fit to safely carry and use defensive equipment when performing the functions of an authorised officer and are required to have a reasonable level of fitness and psychological capacity.
During the recruitment process, at IBAC's cost, you will be required to undertake and meet minimum requirements in relation to:
- Psychometric testing
Psychometric testing is completed online and undertaken across a 1-to-2-hour period comprised of timed and untimed components. Testing covers cognitive ability, personality, work values, and safety behaviours.
- Physical and medical capacity
Assessments are conducted during a 45-60-minute appointment, comprising of baseline evaluations for vision, hearing, mobility and spirometry in accordance with Australian Standards. Candidates will be required to demonstrate at a minimum: ten push ups, ten sit ups, ten body squats, and a three-minute step up cardio exercise.
