A progressive agribusiness operating a diverse, high-input mixed-cropping operation near Lake Boga, VIC. Backed by significant resources, this operation currently grows ~380ha of summer processing tomatoes and 2,000ha of irrigated winter cropping, including barley, canola, and beans. Each season offers fresh opportunities to drive yields, enhance efficiency, and set new standards for sustainable Australian cropping.

The Role

You'll oversee an established team of six full-time staff, ensuring smooth operations year-round. Your primary focus (80%) will be on the processing tomato crop - an intensive, high-input operation where attention to detail is paramount. You'll also manage winter cropping operations (20%), coordinating contractors and seasonal activities (harvesting across both crops is contracted). Reporting directly to the General Manager, your role combines practical leadership with strategic input, ensuring targets are consistently achieved and exceeded.

Note: whilst high-input cropping/row cropping experience is essential, experience specifically in processing tomatoes is not.Individuals looking to step up from an Assistant Farm Manager, Agronomy or Technical Management roles are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership - Oversee all aspects of summer and winter cropping - ground prep, planting, cultivation, spraying and general maintenance.
• Team Management - Lead and develop your team, ensuring clear roles, structured training and a positive workplace culture.
• Problem Solving - Identify issues and proactively implement practical solutions.
• Budget Management - Work closely with the General Manager to manage budgets
• Tech Integration - Leverage farm management software / tech to streamline operations and improve communication across the team.

What You Bring

This role is ideal for a practical, hands-on cropping professional with a positive approach to management. Our ideal candidate will also ideally have:

• ~4+ years of farming experience in irrigated cropping / high-input crops (processing tomatoes, leafy greens, cotton, or similar).
• Good technical understanding of irrigation systems, modern cropping techniques, and precision agriculture practices.
• Comfortable working to budgets, with an eye for efficiency and cost control.
• Adaptability and open-mindedness, able to learn quickly and embrace new approaches.
