About the opportunity
Are you someone who enjoys practical, outdoor work and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly? Murray River Council is seeking two reliable and motivated Waste Facility Operators to join our Waste and Compliance team at the Moama Waste Management Facility.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Council’s waste facilities, including heavy equipment use, site maintenance, customer service and resource recovery. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our waste sites are clean, compliant and community-friendly.
What You’ll Be Doing
Carry out general labouring tasks including litter disposal, landscaping, and site upkeep.
Operate and maintain plant and equipment safely and efficiently.
Record and manage data for waste transactions using weighbridge and POS systems.
Provide high-level customer service and guide users on safe waste disposal.
Operate the Return and Earn facility, including sorting machinery and issuing refunds.
Keep the site clean, tidy, and compliant with safety and environmental standards.
Report hazards, faults, and contribute to monthly operational reporting.
What We’re Looking For
We’re after team players who are practical, safety-conscious and community-minded. You’ll need:
Current Manual Driver’s Licence.
OHS Construction Induction Card (White Card).
First Aid Certificate.
National Police Check and pre-employment medical clearance.
Experience operating plant and equipment.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing workloads.
Familiarity with computers and point of sale (POS) systems.
