NTHA are seeking a Wood Machining Apprentice to join our host employer's team!

Located in Bundamba, QLD

NTHA is a nationally registered Group Training Organisation that employs and supports apprentices and trainees by placing them with host employers for quality, paid hands-on training and experience.

ABOUT THE HOST EMPLOYER
Not your average timber company. They're one of the biggest players in the game — with 9 sites across Australia (plus NZ, Chile, Indonesia and the USA!), they supply the timber behind some of the country’s best-known building products. But here’s what makes them different: the host employer is all about innovation, sustainability, and investing in the future — including the next generation of tradespeople. That means you’ll be working with cutting-edge machinery, learning from industry legends, and getting real skills that can take you anywhere. If you're looking for a company that takes care of its people, takes pride in what they do, and isn’t afraid to do things differently — look no further!

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to begin a 4-year Wood Machining Apprenticeship (Certificate III in Wood Machining FWP3119) with on-the-job training and full-time paid work.
You’ll be working hands-on with timber, operating state-of-the-art machinery, learning how to process, cut, shape and finish timber products used across the building industry. This apprenticeship is perfect for someone who enjoys practical work, has an eye for detail, and is looking to build a career in timber manufacturing and production.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operating and maintaining timber processing machines
• Measuring, cutting, and shaping timber to specifications
• Quality control and inspection of finished products
• Reading and interpreting work orders and technical drawings
• Following WHS procedures and safe work practices
• Maintaining a clean and efficient workshop
• Completing Certificate III coursework (with full support)

WHY JOIN US?
• The host employer provides lunch and snacks every day at work
• Full-time paid apprenticeship with nationally recognised qualification
• Supportive and safety-first environment
• Learn from experienced tradespeople and industry leaders
• On-site mentoring and regular check-ins from your NTHA Field Officer
• Career pathways into timber manufacturing, CNC machining, production or supervisory roles
• Long-term job prospects with a respected industry employer
• Be part of an organisation that values sustainability, innovation, and people

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
• Full working rights in Australia (no visa restrictions)
• A current driver’s licence and reliable transport
• A genuine interest in hands-on, physical work and machinery
• A willingness to learn, listen, and take direction
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
• A commitment to workplace safety
• Good teamwork and communication skills

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday 7am – 3:30pm
