The Role
Join the Community Development team in delivering high-level customer service as our Community Spaces Officer. Key duties include responding to community enquiries regarding venue hire at The Boulevard Centre, managing administrative tasks such as coordinating site visits, opening and securing the venue, handling catering purchases and deliveries, and overseeing key collection and return. The position also supports event setup and pack-down, including audio-visual equipment and furniture, maintains venue assets in good condition, and assists in training casual Facility Attendants.
This opportunity is offered on a temporary part-time contract with an anticipated end date of 1 February 2026
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will mirror the Town’s values of Friendly and helpful, Teamwork, Creativity, Integrity, and Respect, and be able to demonstrate the following:
Excellent customer service skills, including effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise confidently with the public and staff and effectively deal with challenging situations.
Basic Computer skills and the ability to use MS Office products
Previous experience in setting up and bump-out of functions and/or events, including knowledge of Audio-Visual equipment set-up, operation, and take-down would be an advantage
Ability to work as part of a team or independently to contribute to timely and responsive service delivery, including organisational ability and demonstrated initiative for problem solving.
Current ‘Apply First Aid’ certificate and Fire Warden qualifications are desirable.
Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual handling duties, including knowledge of safe manual handling practices

Current National Police Certificate (no older than 3 months)
