Criminal/Family Law Solicitor – 2+ Years PAE
MC Lawyers and Associates is a well-established and growing law firm seeking a capable and driven Junior Solicitor to join our practice. We are a Criminal law and Family Law practice. We are currently looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic criminal/family lawyer to join our supportive and driven team.
This role offers exposure to a wide range of matters and the opportunity to develop your advocacy and client management skills in a supportive environment, working side by side with our principal solicitor.
About the Role
You will work closely with our senior practitioner and be actively involved in:
Attending the FCFCOA on first return dates and general family law appearances
Ability to manage your own files, including appearances
Instructing counsel in interim defended hearings and trials
Preparing and drafting Binding Financial Agreements and Consent Orders
Managing client files and correspondence with professionalism and efficiency
Assisting across broader matters as required
Attend Court for Mention and Contest Mention hearings
Instruct in Contested hearings and indicatable matters
Prepare and draft submissions
While your primary role will be to focus on matters surrounding Criminal Law, exposure to Family Law matters is highly regarded and available for applicants with relevant experience or interest.
Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
Admission as a Solicitor in Australia with a minimum of 2 years post-admission experience
Solid experience in Criminal Law (essential)
Strong advocacy skills and confidence in court appearances
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft precise legal documents
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
A proactive, team-oriented approach with genuine client focus. Our clients are our number one priority and our core focus.
Ability to work collaboratively with your team and independently, in our growing team.
Family Law experience will be highly regarded but is not essential
Knowledge in the use of legal software’s (exposure to smokeball will be regarded but not essential)
