Job Description
A Plant Operator is responsible for the operation of various items of large plant, for construction and maintenance work, and a range of general laboring duties. They are responsible for onsite training and support to Plant Operators, of plant and construction techniques.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Conducting pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on assigned equipment
- Operating heavy machinery such as Loaders,excavator or Skid steer, and Rollers to move materials and level surfaces
- Loading and unloading construction materials, equipment, and supplies
- Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery
- Maintaining accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs
- Assisting with site preparation, excavation, and cleanup tasks as needed
A Plant Operator receives guidance and work instructions from the Senior Plant Operator and Leading Hand.
Qualifications
Hold a Cert 3 in Plant operations to operate and drive various items of large construction plant which may include:
o Excavator (minimum capacity of 5 tonne)
o Front-end Loader
o Skid Steer Loader
o Water cart truck for road construction
o Ride on roller for road construction
o Crane Truck licence for unlimited vehicle mounted crane 10 tonne or over
o Bobcat
Construction White Card
HR Licence
Basic Workplace traffic Managment + Traffic Control.
Small Plant operator tickets
Additional Information
Labouring, including:
• Dogging - securing loads
• Hammering, concrete cutting, shoveling, Laying
Asphalt , concrete and pavers.Road repairs and civil construction.
