This is an entry level position. Experience in the Funeral Industry or similiar is not essential but is an advantage.
After a successful recruitment 6 months ago (who have now transitioned to Funeral Arrangers) we are presenting the opportunity again!

What is available - 2 positions - starting as casual during the probation period and following the successful completion of probation, there is an offer of part time or full time arrangements.
What we are looking for: either a person that would like to start in a support/Funeral Directors assistant role or a Funeral Arranger/Director role. The successful applicant can start in Funeral Support and then upskill to Funeral Arranger at a later stage. The pathway in flexible!
Purpose of the position (Funeral Support): To faciltate under guidance the funeral operations before, during and after services. As well as the thorough maintenance of our venues and transfers of deceased persons. A Funeral Support person does everything except arrange and conduct a funeral. They assist the conductor/arranger on the day to ensure it runs smoothly and to plan. They have keen attention to detail, are reliable and have excellent organisational skills.
Purpose of the position (Funeral Arranger): To meet with families and arrange personable and suitable farewells for their loved one. As well as conducting and follow through those arrangments on the day. A permanent position requires a minimum of 4 days and a rotating On Call roster applies including transfers of deceased persons. They also have keen attention to detail, are reliable and have excellent organisational skills.
Role Description:
It is a time demanding and sensitive work place, that will have constant interruptions. So good self time management and prioritising of tasks is key. The position requires you to have:
Proven sensibility to distressed people, their values and beliefs.
Experience in a Customer Service driven position with multi tasking.
Proven ability to implement time structures and follow through skills.
Interpersonal skills to assist in a team environment.
The position can be physically demanding and a Drivers licence is required
Duties:
To prepare our venues for viewings and/or Funeral Services.
To liaise with the lead Funeral Director in conducting the service
To carry out logistics of testing photos, videos or other presentation material. Including Live Streaming.
To reset and restore our venue following a Service.
To have expertise in the function and setting up of graveside equipment and placement of vehicles for smooth flow.
To assist on viewings and/or Funeral Services at third party venues. (Including setting up of equipment and delivery of services with the lead Funeral Director)
To carry out general cleaning and maintenance of our venues, vehicles and equipment. Including garden and yard maintenance.
Transfer of deceased people from the place of death, eg, home, hospital, accident scene.
Transfer of deceased to and from venues and other locations.
General Clerical duties and moderate computer skills required.
Particular to Funeral Arranger: Duties
An ‘On call’ roster system. (1 in 5)
Experience in a Service/Customer driven position with multi tasking and problem solving.
Interpersonal skills to assist in a team environment.
Efficient Time Management: Effectively schedule and manage funeral arrangements, ensuring all aspects of services are organised and executed with precision.
Compassionate Guidance: Meet with bereaved families to offer empathetic support, assist in planning funeral ceremonies, and provide professional advice during times of emotional distress.
Thorough Preparation: Oversee the meticulous preparation of deceased individuals, including presentation, casketing, and dressing, in accordance with the highest standards of care and respect.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements, including obtaining necessary permits and certificates, while maintaining meticulous records.
Service Delivery: Coordinate all funeral service logistics, including transportation, officiants, cemetery or cremation arrangements to provide a seamless and dignified farewell.
Remuneration:
Based on Funeral Industry Award 2020 Level 1 for Funeral Support.
Based on Funeral Industry Award 2020 Level 3 for Funeral Arranger.
However a salary will be paid to acknowledge the experience and skills the applicant brings to the position.
This position is casual during probation to be flexible to demand.
As casual, we offer a minimum of 3 days per week is guaranteed with additional days as needed.
