Cafe Sydney is seeking a Full-Time Commis Chef to work a 5-day per week rotating roster! This is a full-time salaried role.

Operating seven days a week, we serve lunch and dinner Monday to Saturday, with a relaxed lunch service on Sundays. The Role
We are seeking a full-time Commis Chef (Cook Grade 3) to join our large kitchen brigade. Reporting to Executive Chef Sarahjane Brown and Head Chef James Green, you will play a key role in the preparation and presentation of dishes, supporting a high-volume kitchen that welcomes more than 500 covers per day. This role provides the opportunity to work with premium produce, refine your technical skills and contribute to one of Sydney’s most iconic dining experiences.
Cafe Sydney operates on a rotating roster across all days of the week.
Shifts are rostered to commence from 7:30am or 3:00pm Monday to Saturday, with a Sunday lunch-only service commencing from 9:00am, unfortunately there is no flexibility around shift commencement times.
Responsibilities Include
Preparing ingredients and assisting in the cooking of menu items under the guidance of senior chefs
Maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation
Upholding food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards at all times
Assisting with goods receiving, storage and stock rotation
Supporting inventory control processes and minimising wastage
Contributing to a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment
About You
Relevant commercial cookery qualification (Certificate III or equivalent)
Minimum one year of experience as a Commis Chef in a fast-paced kitchen, preferably à la carte
Strong understanding of food safety and HACCP requirements
Ability to follow direction, work under pressure and contribute positively to the brigade
Must have full working rights in Australia (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
Availability across the set roster (lunch or dinner shifts, plus Sunday lunch service)
