Role Overview

This role is critical in the planning and execution of residential construction projects, providing accurate cost estimates and take-offs, managing project budgets, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, contractors and suppliers. The role requires a balance of technical expertise, analytical skills, and effective communication to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review accurate cost estimates and take-offs for residential builds.

Interpret architectural and engineering plans to identify scope, specifications, and potential cost risks.

Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotes and assess pricing.

Support pricing submissions and prepare scopes of work and contracts.

Use Buildertrend, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam Revu to manage documentation, drawings, and cost data.

Track budgets through the pre-construction phase and support project handover to the construction team.

Liaise with internal teams (design, approvals, construction) to ensure seamless project delivery.

Work closely with architects, engineers, and project teams to ensure estimates align with project objectives.

Ensure all estimates comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance estimation accuracy.

Present estimates and proposals to the Management team, addressing questions and providing clarification

Qualifications and Skills

It is ESSENTIAL that you have experience in residential estimating.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.

Experience in estimating and quantity surveying in the residential sector

Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and South Australian building codes.

Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Proficiency in using estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend) and Microsoft Office suite.

Relevant certification or diploma in construction or a related field.
