Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Finance Officer (AP) to join our Financial Management and Planning team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the financial sustainability of our Council and support the delivery of essential services across the region.
About the Role
As the Senior Finance Officer (AP), you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and expense claims. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain efficient accounts payable processes, reconcile major accounts, and support financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Manage creditor accounts and payroll deductions efficiently
Implement best practice purchasing and accounts payable processes
Reconcile credit cards and major supplier accounts (e.g., Telstra, Power Water)
Prepare monthly AP reports for Council
Provide high-level support to internal and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act and Accounting Regulations
Promote a safe and healthy work environment in line with WHS policie
Essential:
Post-secondary qualifications in Accounting or related discipline, or minimum 3 years’ experience in financial management
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent numeracy, analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Experience with financial management and accounting software
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role
Salary & Benefits
Base Salary: $79,862.13– $87,796.37 per annum (depending on experience)
