The Role
Macquarie University Health is seeking an experienced and skilled Nurse Unit Manager to lead our Anaesthetics team within our Perioperative Services at Macquarie University Hospital. You will oversee the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality anaesthetic care to patients, driving operational excellence and clinical best practice.
Your role will include working collaboratively with medical personnel, anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre management, and multidisciplinary teams to optimise theatre efficiency, equipment management, and workforce planning. You will manage a skilled and dedicated team, focusing on workforce development, quality improvement, and strategic enhancements within the Anaesthetics service.
A key aspect of this position is your leadership in supporting clinical perfusion and blood management services, including management responsibility for the Blood Management Standard. You will lead the development and evaluation of models of care, promoting evidence-based practice and positive change that enhance patient outcomes and staff engagement.
You will also provide clinical mentorship and leadership, collaborating with Clinical Nurse Educators to develop training programs that strengthen team capabilities and promote a cohesive, patient-centred care environment.

To Apply
To be considered for this position, please demonstrate the following in your CV and a 1-2-page cover letter:
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Proven experience in a perioperative nursing leadership role, with a background in Anaesthetics highly desirable
- Demonstrate management skills with ability to take initiative in resolving issues and problems
- Stakeholder management skills, ensuring that multiple people with different agendas are working efficiently to the same end
- Demonstrated ability in managing clinical operations, quality improvement, and workforce development
- Understanding of anaesthetic clinical practices, blood management, and relevant information systems (e.g., TrakCare) is desirable
Note: This position requires you to comply with occupational screening, assessment and vaccinations in line with Macquarie University Health requirements and requires a current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW. You may also have to satisfy MQ Health that you meet all background checks (including criminal record and qualification checks).
