Role Purpose
The Accounts Payable and Receivable Officer is responsible for providing accurate and timely transactional finance support across the Australian and New Zealand Good Shepherd entities.
Using your excellent accuracy and attention to detail, you will carry out end-to-end processing of supplier and customer invoices, preparation of payments, administration of corporate cards, and maintenance of financial records.
With great customer service and communication skills, you will act as a first point of contact for the finance team, reading and responding to emails, answering enquiries and triaging emails to the team.
Working with the support and guidance of the Financial Controller, you will support the effective operation of the finance team by following established procedures and systems, and contributing to efficient and compliant financial practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Support procurement functions and correct preparation of work and purchase orders
- Process suppliers Invoices Including staff and Australia Post cards/petty cash reimbursements
- Preparation of timely and accurate weekly payment including suppliers, and staff reimbursements
- Process applications, top ups and cancellation of corporate credit cards
- Process customer Invoices, receipting customer payments
- Generate customer statements and ageing reports
- Proactively follow up outstanding accounts based on due dates
- Support annual external audit as required
- Ensure AP and AR systems meet organisational compliance controls and workflows
- Archiving & records management of finance records
- Contribute to the development of and adherence to policies, systems, and procedures across the finance function
- Support training of users and onboarding of staff
- Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology to drive efficiencies and productivity gains. Explore opportunities to enhance efficiency within the system
About you
- Certificate III or IV in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred (or equivalent work experience)
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in accounts payable and/or receivable, preferably in a medium-sized organisation
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with finance software and systems - MS Dynamics Business Central is preferred, or similar ERP
- Willingness to learn system tools including OCR processing
- Basic understanding of AI tools or digital finance workflows is desirable but not essential
- Proficient in data entry, document handling, and payment processing
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
