The Catholic Diocese of Cairns is a diverse and dynamic faith community in Far North Queensland, Australia. Spanning a vast region from Cardwell in the south to the Torres Strait in the north and west to the Northern Territory border, the Diocese serves 23 parishes to a multicultural population. It provides a range of services, including outreach and mission, chancery and governance, property management, finance, administration, and other central agencies, supporting the spiritual and operational needs within the region.

About the Role

  • Permanent full-time position 38 hours per week
  • Position based in Cairns
  • Total Employment Package ranging from $96,885 - $107,650 dependent on skills and qualifications (Includes leave loading and super guarantee)

The Catholic Diocese of Cairns is seeking a proactive and innovative Digital & Communication Officer to elevate our digital assets, communications and media strategy. In this pivotal role, you connect the Diocese and the wider community, promoting our Catholic mission through engaging content and strategic communication efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective digital and communication strategies that align with the Diocese’s objectives.
  • Create and maintain content, including photos, videos, and written materials, for social media, websites, and other platforms to showcase the organisation’s activities and services in line with brand guidelines.
  • Maintain and report on digital analytics.
  • Build strong relationships with other Diocesan agencies communications teams and develop relationships with media outlets and respond to inquiries as needed.
  • Work closely with parishes and departments to produce materials for events and community outreach.
  • Develop and uphold the organisational brand identity.

About You

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in communication, media, or marketing roles.
  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with media relations and analytics tools.
  • A valid Positive Notice Blue Card and suitable Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
  • Current open unrestricted Driver’s Licence and ability to drive.
