You will be liaising with internal and external Stakeholders, undertaking flood studies and flood risk management plans in accordance to NSW Flood Policy.

ABOUT THE POSITION.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate in flood modelling and flood risk management within a dynamic and supportive Local Government team. As a Senior Flood Modelling Specialist, will play a key part in delivering impactful projects that enhance community resilience, working closely with diverse stakeholders. The position provides a blend of technical challenge, professional growth, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and public safety.

DUTIES.

• Lead hydrologic and hydraulic modelling (e.g., TUFLOW) for flood studies and capital works.
• Provide expert advice on flood modelling methodologies and interpret results.
• Support Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Plans, including scenario testing.
• Prepare technical maps, figures, and documentation for stakeholders.
• Review flood impact assessments for development applications and advise accordingly.
• Mentor and train staff to build internal modelling capability.
• Communicate technical findings to the community and stakeholders.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.

• Proven experience in flood modelling (e.g., TUFLOW) and flood risk management
• Strong knowledge of ARR2019 and NSW Flood Risk Management Manual
• Ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex technical data
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and teamwork skills
• Civil Engineering degree or similar and Class C Driver’s Licence
