A position is available at our managed grazing property and composting business with occasional work also at our Irrigated cotton and grain farming operation.

Operating for over 50 years, Baartz Farming and Orungal Pastoral Co is a family farming operation in business where employees are viewed as a valued asset.

We have a hands-on approach to most aspects of our work which offers a wide exposure to many different skills sets and industries. A small workforce of 3 to 4 endures everyone shares in this varied work experience. This position will provide challenges to your skills and abilities working as a team as well as autonomously.

Tasks include but aren't limited to:

Machine operation- Frequent: Telehandler, Tub Grinder, MC Trucks, Tractors.

- Occasional: Dozer, Grader, Excavator, Forklift, Harvester etc.

Manual labour: Stock work, Engineering, General Maintenance, Fencing.

Management:

- Logistics for trucks and processing equipment. The green-waste grinding and composting is not just an operators job. Decisions are made on a daily basis concerning material processed, compliance with safety zones, maintenance and productivity. When blending the processed timber and manures for composting, precise quantities and attention to detail are required along with monitoring processes, moisture and turning times.

-Supplier relations Liaising with supplier's for products/ services used on farm and working with personnel from other company's sites.

The discipline to keep records of contracting activities, composting and farm expenses and activities is essential.

The applicant must possess an ability to work unsupervised and manage their day-to-day activities however support is always available.

The applicant must show a high level of ability in at least two of the tasks outlined.

The applicant must have a reasonable level of physical fitness due to the nature of the physical tasks required.

Qualifications that would be helpful include:

Truck and Industry Licenses, with time as operator in at least two of the equipment classes mentioned. Current Chemcert, Ag Course Certification.

Experience that is preferred:

Machine operation and some management responsibilities, good mechanical and welding skills, basic knowledge of livestock and fencing.
