Salary Range: Level 5 $120,428 - Level 6 $126,541 (dependant on experience & qualifications) + 12% Superannuation
Location: Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to Geraldton

This selection process will be used to fill the currently advertised vacancy within the Work Health & Safety team. Additionally, it may be used to fill similar roles that arise within the next twelve (12) months due to team growth or if a position becomes vacant.
If the successful applicant declines the offer or subsequently vacates the position, the next most suitable candidate identified through this process may be selected. This eligibility remains valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the date the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Safety team as a WHS Advisor on a permanent full-time basis.
About Us
Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) provides an essential service, connecting regional Australia to national and international markets as a specialist port catering to boutique and diverse operations.
MWPA operates seven (7) commercial berths and critical marine and land assets which enables the facilitation of trade for the Mid West region, exporting a variety of products including iron ore, grains, mineral sands, non-mineral sands and mineral concentrates. The Port also imports fuel, fertiliser and break bulk cargo. The Port of Geraldton also encompasses the Geraldton Fishing Boat Harbour (FBH), home to Geraldton’s fishing industry. The FBH provides significant opportunities for further development of the Port and activation of a thriving commercial and leisure industry hub.

About the Role
To ensure a safe and healthy workplace that complies with all relevant WHS legal jurisdictions. Jurisdictions relevant to Geraldton Port operations include but are not limited to the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022, Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, Rail Safety National Law, Port Authorities Act and Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) orders.
Advise, coach and support Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) workers in all aspects of WHS management and processes, including risk management, incident reporting, compliance monitoring, emergency preparedness and continuous improvement.
Assist in the development, implementation, and review of MWPA’s Integrated Management System (IMS) to maintain certification to AS/NZS and International standards.
About You
Key qualifications and experience:
Essential
· Bachelor of Science (Health Safety & Environment), Diploma of Work Health and Safety or equivalent
· A thorough knowledge of the relevant legislation;
· Experienced Safety Coach with a proven record for embedding a positive safety culture;
· WHS experience in the marine, mining, construction or similar industries;
· Experience in incident investigation and reporting;
· Experience in conducting compliance inspections, observations and audits;
· Experience in developing and delivering training packages;
· Sound report writing skills; and
· Sound computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database systems.
