Experienced Finance Manager needed for an interim contract with a construction business in Melbourne

Your new company

Our client is an Australian-owned operator in the construction space who are seeking an experienced Finance Manager for a 3-month contract to guide the business through a busy period.

Your new role

This is a key role providing financial stewardship to the organisation. You will own cash flow, month-end, and board-ready reporting while having an active hands-on approach and partnering closely with the General Manager and project leads. Key responsibilities include:

• Cash flow forecasting, daily treasury, and working capital optimisation
• Month-end close, management accounts, and variance analysis
• Prepare board pack insights (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPIs, pipeline/margin)
• Oversee AP/AR, payroll, BAS/IAS, super, and statutory compliance
• Partner with project managers on job costing, WIP, revenue recognition
• Coordinate with external accountants/auditors as required

What you'll need to succeed

You're a confident and commercially minded finance professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys leading teams, improving systems, and partnering with stakeholders to drive performance.
To succeed in this role, you will have:

• CA/CPA qualification.
• Demonstrated success as a Finance Manager ideally in a construction or project-based environment.
• Strong command of cash flow management, WIP/job costing, and revenue recognition principles.
• Advanced Excel capabilities, including pivot tables and lookups, and solid experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead a small team and influence non-finance stakeholders.
