About the role
Yarra Ranges Council has an opportunity for a Healthy Ageing Officer to join our team, enhancing the health and wellbeing of our older residents. This role plays a vital part in developing and implementing priority actions under the Council Plan, Health and Wellbeing Strategy, and Key Life Stages Plan to build inclusive, age-friendly environment where older people feel valued, respected, included and celebrated.
This is a permanent full-time (38 hours per week) position with a salary range between $98,432 and $107,292 per annum.
As a Healthy Ageing Officer, you will:
Support the development and implementation of strategies, policies, plans, and projects to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for older people.
Collaborate with various Council departments, health sector partners, organisations, and communities to promote the health and wellbeing of older residents.
Foster strong partnerships using an asset-based community development approach with key stakeholders to support older people in remaining active, independent, and engaged in the community.
Strengthen the Council Plan objective of creating an age-friendly Yarra Ranges where older people feel valued, respected, and included, celebrating their contributions to the community.
Participate in Business Continuity and Emergency Management activities during times of crisis.
Experience and skills we’re looking for
Proven experience in developing and implementing health and wellbeing initiatives for older adults.
Strong knowledge of strategies and practices that promote healthy and active ageing.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in project management and policy development.
Ability to foster meaningful consultation and engagement with older residents on issues affecting them.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Commitment to promoting the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all children, including Indigenous children, children with disabilities, and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
