About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Quality and Innovation Unit supports key IUIH Network backbone functions including planning; public health; data and health information management; service design, development, implementation and continuous improvement; healthcare quality and safety; and evaluation and research.

About the Role?

This position is responsible for the implementation of the IUIH Quality and Safety Framework and Toolkit – driving, supporting, monitoring and continuously improving our systems, procedures, processes and infrastructure in order to build and sustain excellence in quality assurance and in quality improvement.

Day to Day Duties Include:

  • Coordinate and support implementation of the IUIH Network Quality and Safety Toolkit / System Reflection across all areas of IUIH - and IUIH Network as requested
  • Lead the drafting, development, implementation, monitoring and periodical review of contextualised IUIH and IUIH Network healthcare protocols, guidelines and procedures
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive, coordinated program of healthcare quality assurance, ensuring system strengths, issues and risks are proactively identified and are acted on in response
  • Lead and manage a schedule of routine healthcare systems audits, including but not limited organisation, service and program accreditation and re-accreditation - ensuring activities are collaborative, integrated, coordinated and continuous
  • Provide advice, support and assistance for healthcare leaders, managers and teams in conducting healthcare incident management responses
  • Provide support for our workforce to build confidence, capacity and capability in the healthcare quality and safety, through knowledge transfer and informal education and upskilling
  • Work closely with the IUIH Organisation Development Unit to support the development of more formal workforce education and training in Q&S – including development of training resources, and facilitation and delivery of education and training

About You?

  • Ability to work flexibly and to rapidly adapt to changing environments, including shifting priorities and role requirements
  • High level of knowledge, skill and experience working in comprehensive primary health care services and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a philosophy, culture and practice of integrity, openness, continuous reflection and system improvement
  • High level skills in healthcare information synthesis, analysis, and report writing
  • Tertiary qualification in health and / or related field
  • Minimum 5-years’ experience in healthcare Quality and Safety leadership
  • Current Criminal History Check (Or willing to obtain)

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
