The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Incident Analyst to provide a critical role within the System Performance Branch.

About the Business Unit

Corrections Victoria is part of the Corrections and Justice Services group in the Department of Justice and Community Safety. The System Performance Branch in Custodial Operations comprises mainly of three teams - the Litigation and Coronial Matters team, the Operations Directorate and the Monitoring, Standards and Reporting Unit. The Branch provides authoritative, strategic and policy advice, and briefing papers on a range of correctional issues to senior correctional management and is responsible for a range of work primarily across prisons. Its responsibilities include state-wide oversight of a range of central functions, including operational policy development, review and amendment, convening and participating in state-wide managers' meetings, performance monitoring and reporting, incident reporting, responding to family violence information sharing requests, oversight of internal and external reviews and investigations, coordination of CV's responses to coronial matters and litigation, auditing, correspondence, and general advice to prisons and other departmental staff and internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role

The Incident Analyst reports to the Prison Incidents Operations Manager and is responsible for monitoring and analysing incidents across the prison system.

The Incident Analyst will manage a variety of tasks including:

• consultation and liaison with prison staff and other stakeholders
• maintaining incident data in MS Excel
• coordinating the viewing, copying and retention of CCTV footage
• providing advice on incident classification, recording and trends
• conducting training across all prisons.

This position will work closely with the Operations Directorate and other business units to ensure business priorities are managed in an efficient and coordinated manner.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Knowledge and understanding of Corrections Victoria's prison operations, policies and procedures
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining databases and analysis of data to identify emerging issues and trends contributing to the identification and management of organisational risks, business improvement, policy development and achievement of performance outputs
• Proficient computer literacy skills in PIMS, Centurion, Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Access databases.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Corrections Victoria Prison Officer pre-service training
• Understanding of Offender Management Framework is desirable.
