About the Role
Under the guidance of the Community Development Manager and within a team-based environment the Community Development Officer will assist with the development and delivery of the organisations Community Development program.
The program is responsible for fulfilling contractual obligations entered into by Communities at Work, with regard to its Community Development program.
Duties & Responsibilities
Position Specific
Develop and maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Provide a leading role in contributing to Community Development across the ACT.
Assist in the development and delivery of sustainable activities across the ACT.
Provide support and guidance to groups and/or individuals in developing and implementing community building activities - including some out of normal business hours (evenings/weekends).
Ability to work with partner agencies in the development and implementation of projects that address identified need.
Assist in the development and maintenance of specified data, and evaluation of service provision.
Contribute to the development of progress reports to management and funding bodies as required.
Facilitate a continuous quality improvement approach to all work.
Act as a Champion for Communities at Work and seek opportunities to promote the organisation values.
Supervise, coordinate and support program volunteers.
This role will be on a fixed term contract, ending 30th June 2026.
Selection Criteria
Essential
Maintain current “Working with Vulnerable People” registration.
Qualifications and experience in Community Development or recognised equivalent.
Excellent written and oral, representation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Skills in research, analysis, and report writing.
Proficient in Information Technology (IT).
Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently.
Ability and willingness to undertake after hours and weekend work, as required.
Current driver's licence.
Desirable
Experience in Asset Based Community Development
Current First Aid Certificate
