About the Role
Work part-time (30 hours per week) or full-time hours (38 hours per week), the choice is yours.
My client is seeking a proactive Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper to support daily financial operations in a growing organisation. This varied role calls for strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Working closely with the Group Accountant, you’ll help maintain financial accuracy, support compliance, and ensure smooth processes. Full-time office presence is required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Group Accountant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Assist with payroll, superannuation, and other employee-related payments
Preparation of BAS, tax, and compliance reporting requirements
Perform bank and credit card account reconciliations
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledgers
Prepare financial and management reports
Supporting internal audits and external reporting obligations
Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Maintaining data accuracy across internal systems and databases
Provide administrative and financial support to the Finance team and broader organisation
Skills and Experience
We’re looking for someone who is emotionally intelligent, methodical, resourceful, and aligned with our mission. The ideal candidate will possess:
Australian recognised tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Intermediate - Advanced), accounting software (Quickbooks or Xero is desirable), and cloud-based tools
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
A proactive, curious mindset and a willingness to learn new systems and processes
A team player, who can work both independently and collaboratively
Good problem-solving skills
Prior experience in a similar role (minimum 3 years)
