Talent International is currently recruiting for an APS5 Training Coordinator x 2 to work for one of our Federal Government clients based in Surry Hills/Parramatta/Newcastle/Chatswood/Penrith, or any other client location. The position is a 12-month contract role with the possibility of extension and pays $55.24/hr + Super.

7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week

This role involves indirect or direct involvement with First Nations peoples. The candidate should have an understanding of the issues affecting First Nations peoples, and proven culturally appropriate engagement and communication skills.

Position Overview

The APS5 Training Coordinator supports the coordination and delivery of culturally safe and equitable training packages that build workforce capability and promote positive outcomes for First Nations people with disability. This position works collaboratively with internal teams and First Nations stakeholders to support the implementation of learning solutions that reflect cultural knowledge and adult learning principles.

The role contributes to the organisation and delivery of training sessions, supports the implementation of learning solutions. This role contributes to the development of learning materials, assists in the delivery of training and supports the continuous improvement of programs aligned with strategic priorities and staff wellbeing.

The APS5 Training Coordinator must be able to explicitly demonstrate an understanding and commitment to cultural safety, particularly in addressing the unique challenges faced by First Nations peoples.

Working as part of a collaborative team, the APS5 Training Coordinator applies knowledge of training coordination, cultural safety, and inclusive practices to support the delivery of learning and development programs within the First Nations Group.

Duties Include

  • Coordinate logistics for training delivery, including scheduling, venue booking, participant communications, and resource preparation.
  • Support the facilitation of training sessions, ensuring culturally safe and inclusive practices are upheld.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of training materials, including participant guides, facilitator notes, and digital content.
  • Collaborate with First Nations stakeholders and internal teams to ensure training reflects cultural knowledge and community perspectives.
  • Monitor attendance, feedback, and evaluation data to support reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain records of training activities and contribute to reporting for senior leadership and governance bodies.
  • Support the wellbeing of staff through inclusive learning environments and trauma-informed practices.
  • Assist in coordinating external training providers, ensuring quality and cultural appropriateness of services.
  • Contribute to embedding cultural safety and inclusive practices into workforce capability initiatives.
  • Represent the section in relevant meetings and forums, supporting cultural safety and workforce development priorities.

  • Cultural Safety Awareness: Demonstrated understanding and commitment to culturally safe practices, especially for First Nations peoples.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and First Nations stakeholders.
  • Inclusive Facilitation: Experience supporting or facilitating training sessions using trauma-informed and inclusive approaches.
  • Adult Learning Principles: Familiarity with how adults learn and how to apply these principles in training design and delivery.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting: Ability to monitor attendance, collect feedback, and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to a positive, respectful work culture.

Desirable Skills to Have for the Role:

These skills enhance performance and are highly valued but not mandatory:

  • Experience Working with First Nations Communities: Practical experience engaging with or working in First Nations contexts.
  • Training Material Development: Skills in creating participant guides, facilitator notes, and digital learning content.
  • Project Coordination: Experience managing external training providers and ensuring quality and cultural appropriateness.
  • Qualifications in Education or HR: Formal qualifications in training, education, human resources, or a related field.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Ability to identify opportunities for program enhancement and innovation.

Digital Literacy: Comfort with using digital tools for training delivery and content creation.
