About the role
Yarra Ranges Council has a rare opportunity for two seasoned Senior People & Culture (P&C) Business Partners to join our P&C Operations team. In this role, you’ll work closely with leaders to drive performance, provide expert guidance on complex people matters, and help shape a positive workplace culture for all employees at Yarra Ranges Council.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise on People and Culture matters, including workplace issues, grievances, performance management, complex case management, Enterprise Agreement interpretation, data interpretation and analytics, workforce planning, and policy reviews.
Develop and implement best-practice People and Culture projects, leveraging innovative and collaborative approaches to achieve strategic outcomes.
Lead one P&C Business Partner, serving as a point of escalation for advice, expertise, and coaching.
Collaborate with leaders at all levels of the organisation to ensure alignment with organisational goals and values.
Foster a positive workplace culture with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion and a strong commitment to child safety.
In-depth knowledge of HR legislation, systems, and methodologies, with a focus identifying, managing, and mitigating psychosocial hazards in the workplace.
We have two positions available:
One permanent full-time.
One temporary full-time until April 2026 (secondment backfill).
Both roles have a salary range between $110,534 and $119,249 per annum (Band 7), plus superannuation.

Experience and skills we’re looking for
Extensive knowledge and experience in managing a range of unique and complex workplace relations issues, performance management, change management, grievances, and disputes.
Demonstrated experience in developing People and Culture initiatives or projects.
Experience in conducting workplace investigations including oversight of unfair dismissals or general protections claims.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in report and policy development.
The ability to coach and empower leaders through the resolution of complex people matters.
Strong stakeholder relationship skills with the ability to partner closely with leadership at all levels.
