What you'll be doing
Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) is committed to reducing its carbon footprint to reach net zero by 2035 for the emissions we control directly, with a 70-80% reduction by 2030. The Research & Data Manager, Planetary Health is responsible for managing the governance and analysis of carbon emissions data and information, and coordinating strategic research projects to monitor and contribute to progress of NSLHD’s pathway to net zero and Planetary Health Framework. The role will manage a newly developed carbon dashboard, which is one of the first of its kind in NSW Health, manipulating complex datasets and charts to communicate findings to NSLHD executive, staff, and patients. The role will build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to improve the collection and synthesise a range of data across scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions sources and evaluate the environmental, health, and financial impact of planetary health projects. Working as part of a small team with a diversity of skills, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of research and evaluation methods to be able to conduct and supervise innovative planetary health research projects. Experience with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and carbon accounting is desirable but not essential. This is a full-time position based at Royal North Shore Hospital with flexibility to work remotely.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
Demonstrated research skills and the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate public health and/or sustainability research or initiatives.
- Relevant qualifications and appropriate experience in data analytics or business intelligence, sustainability, research and evaluation, project management or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in the collection and analysis of data using analytics tools such as Power BI. Experience developing automated technical solutions will be highly regarded.
