About this opportunity:

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Fitter to join our Water Network and Wastewater Treatment team. In this role, you'll conduct maintenance and repairs on mechanical infrastructure across our water and wastewater assets. If you have experience in the water industry, it's a definite advantage!

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
  • Medium Rigid (MR) driver's licence (QLD).
  • White Card (Construction).
  • Hands-on experience with pumps, control valves, pneumatic systems, dosing systems, and other water industry equipment.
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and resolve conflicts.

Special Requirements:

  • Participation in a 24/7 on-call roster (1 out of 4 weeks).
  • Immunisation required for Tetanus, Hep A & Hep B*.
  • Qualifications in First Aid & CPR or the ability to attain them.
  • Some overtime will be required.

*Council is committed to the safety of its employees and requires an immunisation program for identified roles. The successful applicant will be required to attend a post-employment immunisation assessment, by a health practitioner nominated and paid for by the Council.

In exchange for your expertise, Mackay Regional Council will provide:

  • Base salary of $74,242.35
  • Trade Allowance of $3,525.52
  • Annualised overtime allowance of $11,806.86
  • Annualised live sewer allowance of $18,065.00
  • Weekly remuneration including annualised allowances, ensuring your salary is attractive and consistent week in, week out, 52 weeks per annum
  • Based on Stream C Award - Building Trades Level C7, the total remuneration package available is $107,639.25 and is made up of:

This equates to an approximate weekly salary of $2,069.99 (gross).

In addition to the above, you will also receive:

  • 12% Superannuation on your base salary and live sewer allowance, with the option to make your own additional voluntary contributions
  • 17.5% leave loading on your base salary, meaning your weekly salary will increase when you take your annual leave!
