The opportunity
Our client is a community focused federal government agency. They have an exciting opportunity available for multiple APS 5 and 6 Instructional Designers AND Training Facilitators to assist the Agency in the creation / rollout of a new First Nations Participant cultural safety program.
These will be a 12-month initial contracts with the strong likelihood of extension, offering APS5 hourly rates of $55.24 + Super and APS6 rates of $60.26 + Super. These roles will be based out of Richmond or Geelong, expecting 2 days WFH / 3 on site.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Support the design of training packages, including learning objectives, content structure, delivery methods, and evaluation tools.
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design approaches to create engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
- Co-design training materials with First Nations stakeholders to ensure cultural safety, relevance, and responsiveness.
- Develop learning resources such as facilitator guides, participant materials, eLearning modules, and induction content.
- Collaborate with HR, L&D, and operational teams to align training initiatives with workforce needs and strategic priorities.
- Assist in piloting training packages and incorporating feedback to improve content and delivery.
- Monitor training effectiveness and contribute to reporting for SES and the Executive Team.
- Promote staff wellbeing through inclusive learning design and culturally safe practices.
- Support vendor coordination and ensure quality and cultural appropriateness of external training services.
- Contribute to embedding cultural safety and inclusive practices into workforce capability planning.
- Develop and track project progress and assist with reporting against timelines, governance, and budget.
- Represent the Branch in relevant forums and working groups, supporting cultural safety and workforce development.
- Provide informed advice on learning and development initiatives to support strategic goals.

About you
- Demonstrated experience in instructional design, adult learning, and training development.
- Strong understanding of cultural safety and First Nations perspectives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate complex projects.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to inclusive practices, trauma-informed approaches, and continuous improvement.
Desirable Criteria
- Relevant qualifications in education, training, human resources, or a related field.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Experience working in or with First Nations communities is highly regarded.
- If applying for the Instructional Design role you will need prior experience with Articulate. Rise is also advantageous.
