Join the Westmead Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (WBIRS), a pioneering, multidisciplinary rehabilitation hub located within Westmead Hospital. As the only service in the Western Sydney Local Health District specialising in traumatic brain injury (TBI), WBIRS provides exceptional inpatient and community care from coma to community reintegration.

A 12-bed inpatient program delivering specialised, intensive rehabilitation.

State-wide referral centre managing complex brain injury cases.

Collaborative team culture with allied health, social work, and research experts.

What you'll be doing

In this vital role, you will provide expert clinical care to patients with severe brain injuries, supporting their journey from acute stages to discharge and community reintegration. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, patient-centred rehabilitation programs.

Providing a clinical service to a client group that can exhibit challenging behaviours which requires the development of a specialised skill base to understand cognition and behaviour.

In this role you will be:

Working with clients who have complex psychosocial situations.

Overseeing the possibility of long term involvement in cases which requires the provision of both daily treatment and discharge planning.

Involved in complex discharge planning that can include liaison and co-ordination with a variety of both Department of Health, private and community based services.

Working within a closed unit environment with a highly specialised team structure and philosophy.

Registration: C urrent AHPRA registration

Qualification: Recognised tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy

Selection Criteria

Recognised tertiary qualification in occupational therapy and current AHPRA registration.

Eligibility for membership of OT AUSTRALIA.

Graduate experience in the occupational therapy management of patients in one or more of the following areas: Neurological, brain injury and /or general rehabilitation, mental health, development disability.

Demonstrated skills working in a multidisciplinary team.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Current unrestricted Drivers Licence valid within Australia.

Commitment to continuing education and continuous quality improvement.
