Hamptons Homes Sydney are seeking an experienced and dedicated Leading Hand Carpenter to join our professional staff on a full-time basis, overseeing daily tasks to see that projects come in on time, within budget, and with a high standard of quality.
- Are you willing and capable of taking full ownership and responsibility for all aspects of carpentry—from layout and framing to finishing—on one or more sites, while ensuring that time, safety, quality standards, and design specifications are met?
- Are you a highly skilled carpenter with proven leadership abilities, capable of managing and holding accountable a crew of carpenters and apprentices ensuring that all carpentry work adheres to plans and meets AS1684 standards?
- Can you lead the team by example, setting a great precedent, and addressing personnel issues openly and transparently?
- Do you take pride in delivering high-quality work, holding yourself accountable for outcomes—even when collaborating with others—rather than shifting responsibility or relying solely on directions from others?
- Are you capable of working closely with the job supervisor, acting as their key point of contact onsite, ensuring clear communication, coordinating tasks and overseeing daily operations?
- Do you have the ability to foresee potential problems before they arise and effectively problem-solve independently, without relying on others?
Required Roles & Responsibilties:
- Prior experience as a Leading Hand Carpenter and high-level abilities working on detailed timber structures & Building sites
- Perform Onsite Cutting of Wall & Roof Framing
- Have a high understanding of general building knowledge and be capable of managing multiple sub contractors under the guidance and instruction from the site supervisor
- Report any possible project variations to supervisors
- Ability to effectively read and understand building plans
- Strong organisational skills for site set-up and crew delegation
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills with tradespeople and subcontractors
- Ensure daily hours are logged and correctly allocated to cost centres in JMS by all workers
- Ability to work within tight deadlines
- Document and photograph job progress and critical inspections
- Professional appearance and demeanour
- Keen attention to detail in keeping project records and documentation
Experience & qualifications:
- Certificate III & IV in Carpentry
- White Card, First Aid Certificate is also advantageous
- Current driver’s license
