  • Play a key part in the oversight of complex private credit, ensuring robust controls and accurate client reporting.
  • Benefit from a supportive leadership team that values your expertise, encourages ongoing training opportunities, and fosters an environment where your contributions are recognised and rewarded.

  • An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Finance Director and Fund Controller to join a highly respected investment firm in Sydney. This permanent position offers you the chance to play a pivotal role in supporting and overseeing the day-to-day operations and reporting for Private Credit Funds, while also contributing to wealth management operations. You will work closely with a knowledgeable team, engaging with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure seamless fund administration and timely clientdeliverables. The organisation is renowned for its inclusive culture, commitment to professional growth, and flexible working opportunities, making it an ideal environment for those who value collaboration, knowledge sharing, and career progression. If you are passionate about delivering outstanding service, thrive in a supportive setting, and are eager to make a meaningful impact within a growing business, this role is tailored for you.

What you'll do:

  • Review financial statements and accounting packages for complex clients, including all supporting work papers and disclosure documents as well as distribution calculations, management fees, carried interest, expenses, capital calls, and interest payments to investors.
  • Manage the fund launch process by working closely with internal teams and administrators or custodians to ensure all parties deliver on time while covering new funds prior to reallocating responsibilities to junior team members.
  • Produce comprehensive investor reporting packages such as investment manager's reports, portfolio details reports, and various ad-hoc reports to meet regulatory requirements and client expectations.
  • Monitor investment activity by reviewing cash flow projections and managing liquidity requirements to support effective fund operations.
  • Provide essential support to investment teams throughout deal transactions and the fund closing process by ensuring all documentation is accurate and deadlines are met.
  • Ensure fund operating expenses and budgets align with documentation through quarterly budget reviews that maintain financial discipline across all activities.
  • Assist with team management by helping train team members, educating internal support teams on fund knowledge and operational processes, identifying knowledge gaps, providing feedback to managers, and contributing to new team build-outs.
  • Support the sales team by responding promptly to regular client enquiries and requests while maintaining excellent relationships with both internal stakeholders (Portfolio Managers, Analysts) and external partners (third-party administrators, auditors).
  • Oversee annual financial statements preparation along with supporting schedules by coordinating with various parties during external audits; participate in system implementations or upgrades as needed.

What you bring:

  • Accounting qualification such as CA or CPA is required along with at least 12 years' experience in asset management or financial services covering similar responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience working on closed-end or open-end funds-particularly private credit, private equity or high yield fund accounting/administration/audit-with deep understanding of fund management processes.
  • Proven ability in multi-currency reporting combined with practical knowledge of hedging strategies and successful track record launching new funds within tight timelines.
  • Strong relationship-building skills enabling effective collaboration with key stakeholders across business lines including Portfolio Managers, Sales Teams, Legal Counsel, Compliance Officers, Corporate Functions etc.
  • Significant experience managing third-party administrator relationships-resolving operational issues efficiently through KPI meetings or high-level interactions with relationship managers.
  • Advanced analytical abilities demonstrated through query resolution on private credit/high yield funds plus hands-on experience in cash management or treasury functions such as forecasting or FX hedging requirements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of legal documentation including prospectuses, Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), Credit Agreements or other third-party contracts relevant to fund operations.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills allowing you to liaise effectively with demanding stakeholders under tight deadlines while remaining flexible enough to adapt workload priorities as needed.
  • Experience using Fund Accounting software is essential; familiarity with Aladdin or eFront is preferred but not mandatory; advanced Power BI/Excel skills are highly desirable.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are encouraged to apply. To apply please click apply or call Rachel Kay on 02 82893113 for a confidential discussion.
