The Opportunity Group Tech is driving the uplift of payments across the enterprise, enabling modern methods like Apple Pay, Google Pay and other retail solutions. This role will oversee the technology execution of the Group’s payments strategy — ensuring current applications remain stable while driving transformation of legacy platforms into modern, scalable services.

The Role As the Applications Portfolio Owner, you’ll take accountability for a suite of payments applications, managing both business-as-usual stability and the delivery of transformation initiatives.

You’ll lead vendor selection processes, partner closely with delivery teams, and ensure Group Tech delivers outcomes that support the organisation’s payments strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Owning and managing the applications portfolio for merchant and group payments
• Leading modernisation of payment platforms to enterprise-grade solutions
• Running vendor evaluations and RFPs to replace or enhance legacy systems
• Managing vendor contracts, commercials, performance, and delivery outcomes
• Balancing operational reliability with transformation and feature delivery
• Enabling digital channels to consume payment services through APIs
• Partnering with stakeholders across Group Tech and business functions
• Guiding a small team in executing roadmap priorities

About You

• Deep experience in payments, banking, or financial services in complex environments
• Strong vendor management and commercial negotiation capability
• Proven track record of uplifting/replacing legacy technology via RFPs and vendor partnerships
• Familiar with modern payment methods and integration approaches (Apple Pay, Google Pay, APIs)
• Skilled at balancing operational excellence with delivery of new capabilities
• Strong communicator with proven stakeholder management and team leadership skills
