We are seeking a talented and experienced baker to join our team at the French Bakehouse in Somerville, Victoria. As our Baker, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality baked goods that delight our customers and uphold the exceptional standards of our renowned bakery.

Key responsibilities

Mix, knead, and proof dough to create a variety of breads, pastries, and other baked items

Operate commercial baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and slicers to ensure efficient and consistent production

Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations

Collaborate with the Head Baker and Pastry Chef to develop new recipes and improve existing ones

Assist in the training and supervision of junior bakers and kitchen staff

Ensure all baked goods are produced to the highest quality and presented to our customers to the company's exacting standards

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years of experience as a professional baker in a commercial setting

Strong understanding of baking techniques, food science, and ingredient properties

Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Passion for creating delicious, visually appealing baked goods

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work culture

Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach

Food safety and hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)

Trade Certificate in baking or equivalent recognised baking qualification

Valid Australian work rights including valid work visa
