At Richmind WA, every day is an opportunity to shape the future of mental health in Western Australia. Join our Step-Up Step-Down (SUSD) service in Bunbury and be part of a passionate, multidisciplinary team supporting individuals to take charge of their recovery. Here, your skills, courage, and compassion will help people regain independence, confidence, and hope.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse, Mental Health, you’ll deliver person-centred care and work alongside GPs, specialists, and a dedicated multidisciplinary team. Your contributions will directly impact residents with complex mental health needs through:

  • Developing and implementing personalised care plans.
  • Administering and monitoring medications safely.
  • Providing education and referrals to community services.
  • Facilitating health promotion and social inclusion initiatives.
  • Driving quality improvement and maintaining clinical compliance.
About the Service

Step Up/Step Down (SUSD) Bunbury, provides contemporary, therapeutic mental health care through residential support, for up to 28 days.

A range of supports are provided through a multidisciplinary team to help people manage their mental health, avoid hospitalisation and live well in the community.

Step Up services provide additional support for a person to manage a decline in their mental health, this option can help people avoid going to hospital when they are becoming unwell.

Step Down services provide support for a person who is in hospital and no longer requires that level of care but could benefit from some additional support to help them return home, feeling confident about managing their mental health.

Residents are provided a dedicated key worker who partner with them to develop their personal recovery plan.

Groups, Peer and individualised support are designed to build new skills and confidence, help individuals identify goals and plan for going home as well as provide referrals to ongoing support in the community.

Activities and groups provide opportunities to connect, create, share and learn. Residents can explore healthy cooking, learn mindfulness techniques, enjoy the dedicated art space and sensory room and join the exercise group.

SUSD Bunbury is operated by Richmind WA in partnership with Cyrenian House and is staffed by dedicated mental health professionals 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.

We are referral based – your GP or mental health case manager can provide more information and a pathway to the service.
