Community Engagement Officer

About the role

The Community Engagement Officer will assist the coordinator in delivering the Council's community engagement services, providing strategic advice for the development of high-quality initiatives. The role involves contributing to a best practice Communications and Engagement Strategy, ensuring community participation in planning and decision-making.

Responsibilities also include researching engagement projects, promoting a positive organizational culture, maintaining transparency in decision-making, and collaborating across Council for a consistent approach to community engagement activities.

You can also expect to:

· Support the Coordinator in implementing the Communications and Engagement Strategy, helping to ensure the community has genuine opportunities to participate in planning and decision-making on projects that impact them.

· Support the Coordinator by researching engagement projects to contribute to their development, and to assist with delivery that is well-informed, timely, and within budget.

· Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair, and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.

· Working across Council to provide a consistent approach to Community Engagement activities.

· Assist in delivering value for all stakeholders in an ethical, social, and environmentally responsible manner.

About you

We are looking for a someone who demonstrates:

· Preferred requirements: IAP2 Certificate or willingness to undertake

· Relevant tertiary or other qualifications recognised by relevant professional membership bodies and/or relevant experience

· Current Drivers Licence Class C

· Flexibility to work across varied hours and various locations as required.
