LAUNCESTON PATHOLOGY

MEDICAL TRANSCRIBER

Status: Part Time - (5 days/30 hours per week)

Position Summary

The primary responsibilities of this role involve audio typing of histopathology reports and the provision of timely and effective responses to stakeholder enquiries.

Responsibilities

Accurate audio typing of histopathology reports using laboratory application software

Answer and respond to telephone enquiries

Represent Diagnostic Services in a professional and effective manner to both internal and external stakeholders

Apply quality systems and continuous improvement processes

Data Entry duties inputting patient and specimen information into laboratory systems

General clerical and administrative tasks as required

Compliance with OH&S standards

Liaison with stakeholders, both internal and external

Other duties may be assigned.

Required Attributes

Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate and confidential patient information is maintained

Accurate and efficient typing skills (maintain speed of at least 70 wpm & over 95% accuracy)

Effective time management and proven ability to prioritise competing deadlines

Competent and proficient computer skills and ability to learn and embrace new applications/systems

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with an understanding of quality control and quality assurance

A good knowledge and understanding of medical terminology and phrases

Previous experience with medical audio dictation and digital voice recognition

Professional communication and collaboration with Pathologists and laboratory staff to meet deadlines and maintain high quality standards

Ability to act independently within established guidelines, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and sound judgement

High level general administrative skills
