Warringu is currently seeking a committed and experienced female professional to lead our frontline team in delivering trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-centred support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (and other) women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness.
Warringu is a not-for-profit organisation governed by a community-elected Board of Directors. We proudly provide essential crisis, accommodation, advocacy, and outreach services in Cairns and surrounding communities including Yarrabah, the Atherton Tablelands, Cape York, and the Torres Strait.
This is a female-identified position and is exempt under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD).
✨ About the Role
As the Family Violence Services Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and managing the delivery of Warringu’s DFSV services including two Women's Shelters. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Corporate Services Manager, you’ll lead and supervise a dedicated frontline team across multiple locations.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on program management, ensuring our services meet the highest standards of cultural integrity, trauma-informed care, and community relevance. You’ll also champion advocacy, build stakeholder relationships, and lead community education initiatives aimed at preventing violence and promoting healing.
🌟 Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of all DFSV programs and ensure contractual, regulatory, and performance obligations are met.
Lead and mentor staff across accommodation, case management, and outreach teams.
Manage program budgets, assets, and shelter properties.
Drive continuous quality improvement, policy development, and compliance.
Build and maintain collaborative partnerships across government and non-government sectors.
Lead community education and advocacy to support a coordinated regional DFV response.
✅ What We’re Looking For
Proven leadership in managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex service delivery.
Deep understanding of the dynamics of family and sexual violence, with a strong cultural awareness lens.
Expertise in stakeholder engagement, team development, and operational management.
Strong budgeting, reporting, and compliance knowledge.
Commitment to cultural safety and working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
📘 Required Qualifications & Checks
Tertiary qualification in Business, Social Sciences, Law, or related field – or 5+ years senior leadership experience.
Current Driver’s Licence (mandatory)
Current Blue Card (QLD Working with Children Check – mandatory)
