Key responsibilities:
- Enhance and maintain accurate fraud control registers, and undertake records management activities and fraud control audits.
- Action suspected and/or actual fraud on the financial assistance scheme and determine the course of action for any identified suspected or actual fraud in line with VAQ policies and operational practice guidelines.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate VAQ processes to identify potential areas of fraud risk and implement measures to address vulnerabilities.
- Conduct high-level reviews of VAQ's fraud protocols, processes, and detection methods, recommending and implementing improvements to mitigate potential fraud risks.
- Maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including other departmental business units and government agencies, to stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and legislative changes in fraud detection and prevention.
- Analyse data to identify fraud patterns, trends, and anomalies, using insights to inform fraud prevention strategies and improve detection methods.
- Provide operational advice to senior management, including analysis of emerging fraud trends, service demands, and legislative issues, ensuring VAQ remains responsive and adaptable.
- Develop and implement governance frameworks, policies, and recordkeeping practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support effective fraud prevention initiatives, including Departmental reporting.
- Working with the VAQ Training Officer, develop and deliver proactive training and awareness programs for all staff within VAQ to enhance their ability to identify and respond to suspected fraud.
- Prepare comprehensive and well-researched documentation, including frameworks, reports, and presentations, to support fraud control initiatives and inform decision-making.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with senior management, team leaders, and other stakeholders to progress fraud prevention initiatives and ensure alignment on expectations and deliverables.
